Whenever my mom told me this story, I was blown away. The fact that peanut butter used to be served in fancy goblets made me wish that I could go back in time and experience this myself.
Me and my husband love peanut butter, but mainly my husband. He has been an avid JIF buyer for as long as he has been purchasing his own peanut butter. Now the JIF container is a basic plastic container with a red top (or at least the creamy version is), but back in he 1950's it was served in this container...
Yep, I bet you are all thinking what I was thinking when I first found this out "how was peanut butter from the store being served in such a pretty glass!?!?"
In the 1950s, Hazel Atlas supplied Big Top Peanut Butter with these lovely pressed glass goblets as its peanut butter containers. Once you finished eating the peanut butter, you had an amazing drinking glass. Big Top Peanut Butter later became JIF, which we all know and love today!
The Wedding Plate owns 20+ of these unique goblets, which were purchased at the Donna McCabe estate sale. Donna, her husband, and her son owned a famous Nashville landmark, The Loveless Cafe, from 1973 - 2003.
